Belarus
Background: In visual study I explore a deeply personal topic - an intersection of traditional folklore and contemporary cultural topics in my native country Belarus. I carved traditional ornaments in linoleum, and assembled type in letterpress to create a set of three postcards. Each card represents a unique ornament, traditionally sewn on fabric. These ornaments all have their unique meanings, and are carefully assembled as a way of visual storytelling. In modern day Belarus (and abroad) these symbols continue bringing value and meaning to folks, uplifting spirits and connecting generations.
Medium: letterpress, linocut, offset printing
Assets: Postcards (sets of three), business cards, brochures, digital animation, stickers
